Oral Surgery
Oral surgery is one of the most extensive fields of dental medicine. This medical specialty is responsible for all surgical acts related to the extraction of teeth that cannot be maintained in the oral cavity, namely teeth that have been severely damaged by tooth decay, which cannot be restored, teeth without supporting bone matter and impacted teeth, amongst others.
IMPACTED TEETH
Wisdom teeth (last molars) are often impacted in the jaw, ie they are being prevented from emerging. Sometimes, when these teeth are poorly positioned in the arches they should also be extracted.
Wisdom teeth may cause several complications:
tooth decay in adjacent teeth;
pathologies such as cysts and tumors;
paresthesia (changes in sensation);
pericoronarites (mucosal inflammation);
crowding (malposition of the teeth).
